Scaling and polishing

Scaling and polishing are essential dental procedures aimed at maintaining optimal oral health. Scaling involves the removal of plaque and tartar buildup from the surfaces of teeth and along the gumline, using specialized dental instruments. Polishing follows scaling and involves smoothing the tooth surfaces to remove surface stains and create a clean, polished finish. Together, scaling and polishing leave the teeth feeling smooth, refreshed, and free from harmful plaque and tartar buildup, promoting overall oral hygiene and a brighter smile. These procedures are typically recommended as part of routine dental cleanings to maintain healthy teeth and gums.

Tooth extraction

Tooth extraction is a dental procedure performed to remove a tooth from its socket in the jawbone. This may be necessary for various reasons, such as severe tooth decay, advanced gum disease, dental trauma, overcrowding, or to prepare for orthodontic treatment. The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia to numb the area around the tooth, ensuring a comfortable experience for the patient. The dentist or oral surgeon then carefully loosens the tooth from the surrounding tissues and gently removes it from the socket using specialized instruments. After extraction, the area is often stitched closed to aid in healing. Following the procedure, patients are provided with post-operative instructions to promote proper healing and minimize discomfort. Tooth extraction can help alleviate pain, prevent further dental problems, and restore oral health when necessary.

Root canal treatment

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic therapy, is a dental procedure performed to treat infection or damage within the pulp of a tooth. This becomes necessary when the pulp, which contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue, becomes infected or inflamed due to deep decay, dental trauma, or other factors. During the procedure, the dentist or endodontist carefully removes the infected or damaged pulp from the tooth’s interior chambers and cleans and disinfects the root canals. After thorough cleaning, the canals are filled with a biocompatible material, typically gutta-percha, to seal them and prevent further infection. Finally, the tooth is restored with a filling or crown to strengthen and protect it. Root canal treatment aims to save the natural tooth and alleviate pain and discomfort associated with pulp infection or inflammation. It is a highly successful procedure that can help maintain oral health and preserve the functionality of the affected tooth.

Dental filling

A dental filling is a common dental procedure used to repair and restore a tooth that has been damaged by decay or minor fractures. During the procedure, the dentist removes the decayed or damaged portion of the tooth and cleans the affected area to remove any bacteria or debris. Once cleaned, the cavity is filled with a dental filling material, such as composite resin, amalgam, or porcelain. The filling material is carefully shaped and hardened to restore the tooth’s natural shape, function, and appearance. Dental fillings help to prevent further decay, strengthen the tooth, and restore its ability to chew and bite properly. They are an effective and minimally invasive treatment option for addressing cavities and minor tooth damage.

Fluoride treatment for children

Fluoride treatment for children is a preventive dental procedure aimed at strengthening the enamel of their teeth and reducing the risk of cavities. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that helps to remineralize and strengthen tooth enamel, making it more resistant to acid attacks from bacteria and acids in the mouth. During a fluoride treatment, a highly concentrated fluoride solution, gel, or varnish is applied to the surfaces of the teeth by a dental professional. The fluoride is left on the teeth for a short period, allowing it to be absorbed into the enamel and provide protection against decay. Fluoride treatments are safe, painless, and quick, making them suitable for children of all ages. They are typically recommended as part of routine dental care to help maintain optimal oral health and prevent cavities. Regular fluoride treatments, along with good oral hygiene practices, can help children maintain healthy teeth and gums for a lifetime.

Dentures

Dentures are removable dental appliances designed to replace missing teeth and restore oral function and aesthetics. They are custom-made to fit the unique contours of the patient’s mouth and can be used to replace a few missing teeth or an entire arch of teeth. Dentures consist of artificial teeth set into a base made of acrylic or metal, which is designed to mimic the appearance of gum tissue. They are held in place either by suction, clasps, or dental adhesive, depending on the type of denture and the patient’s individual needs. Dentures not only restore the ability to chew and speak properly but also help support facial muscles and improve facial appearance by filling out the cheeks and lips. They are a popular and effective solution for restoring smiles and improving overall quality of life for individuals with missing teeth. Regular maintenance and adjustments may be necessary to ensure the comfort, fit, and function of dentures over time.

Crown & Bridge

A crown and bridge are common dental restorations used to replace missing teeth and restore the function and appearance of a smile. A bridge, on the other hand, is used to replace one or more missing teeth by bridging the gap between adjacent teeth. Both crowns and bridges are custom-made to match the color, shape, and size of the natural teeth, providing a seamless and natural-looking restoration. They help improve chewing and speaking abilities, prevent shifting of adjacent teeth, and enhance overall oral health and confidence. Crowns and bridges are durable, long-lasting solutions for restoring missing or damaged teeth and are commonly used in general and cosmetic dentistry. Regular oral hygiene and dental visits are essential for maintaining the health and longevity of crown and bridge restorations.
